Erika Fabian was born in Budapest, Hungary. When she was three years old, the Hungarian regime, then an ally of Nazi Germany, recruited her father into forced labor. The following year, Nazi Germany invaded its ally Hungary. Erika's mother managed to secure false papers for her family, and they lived under Christian identities in Budapest for the rest of the war. Erika only learned that she was Jewish after the war. Erika left Hungary in 1956, and she developed a career in theater and photography. She is a world traveler and still writes plays and novels.
