Yom HaShoah, or Holocaust Remembrance Day, is the day set aside to remember the approximately six-million Jewish victims of the Holocaust. The Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh’s annual Yom HaShoah Commemoration is a solemn community gathering that features a candlelighting ceremony, thematic readings, and a memorial for local survivors who have passed away. The Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh has held this event every year since the establishment of the Center in 1980. Due to the unique circumstances of the COVID-19 outbreak, this year's program will be held completely online. We hope you will join us!
This year’s digital Yom HaShoah program marks 75 years since the last of the concentration camps in Nazi Germany and Nazi-occupied Europe were liberated, and will honor local liberators and their families. The 2020 Yom HaShoah program at the Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh is underwritten by Agnes Rocher and Family, in memory of her husband George.
