Virtual Lecture: History of the Atrocity Prevention Movement

TIME: 12 PM ET / 9 AM PT | PLATFORM: Zoom | REGISTER: bit.ly/twrhistorylecture

#NeverAgain? The Past, Present, and Future of the Atrocity Prevention Movement

As violent hatred rises in our communities and on social media, the Holocaust survivors who made us promise “never again” are passing away. Memory of the past is fading when the lessons of the Holocaust and other atrocities may matter most. The time is now for the next generation of leaders to transform remembrance into action.

One of those leaders is this session’s facilitator, David Estrin. The grandson of four Holocaust survivors, David left his job in Corporate America to build #TogetherWeRemember, an annual global campaign that he founded at Duke University after his grandfather passed away. The campaign unites students and educators across lines of difference to counter violent hatred using technology, art, dialogue, and activism. He’s helped student leaders organize over 100 “remembrance-to-action” vigils in 9 countries, partnered with Twitter to counter hate on social media, and spoken about his work at the United Nations.

In this interactive session tailored to students and educators, David will share the origin story of the movement to end genocide and mass atrocities around the world, where the movement stands today, and how you can play a meaningful role in where it goes next.

Can we make “#NeverAgain” a reality? You’ll have to attend this session to find out.
