Zambia has been one of Africa's most peaceful countries from the time it gained it's independence in 1964. The songs of the forefathers who fought tooth and nail for this independence are still sung in the present day and their wisdom passed on from generation to generation. However, from the time Zambia switched to a multiparty state in 1991, politically motivated Violence has been on a rise and more recently identified as a huge threat to the peace the nation takes pride in.
Join the Youth of Zambia in a Together We Remember Vigil as they Unite in a quest to structure a peaceful future free from Polical Violence this Saturday 17th April, 11:00AM (EST), 5:00PM (CAT). Joining them will be Zambian Government Leaders, Political party representatives, Professors from an Institute of Peace and Conflict Study, Clergy men and University Students.
Together we will remember the impact political violence has had on the country, victims and celebrate upstanders against it so that as Zambians prepare for their General election in August, they endorse peace and nonviolence.
