Please join the LIGHT Education Initiative on April 26th from 12:00-1:00PM EST on Zoom for a LIVE student-led panel discussion featuring MAI KHOI, an internationally famous Vietnamese activist and musician currently residing in Pittsburgh, PA. This event is a one-time LIVE EVENT where your students will directly connect with Khoi and other students from across the region and across the world.
The goal of this program is to give your students a 1-hour interactive program during Genocide Awareness Month with an international artist and activist to spark a conversation surrounding human rights, and to connect you and your students to local, national, and international organizations for further engagement.
Lastly, as a political activist fighting for human rights, Khoi is critical of both Democrats and Republicans, President Obama and President Trump, for their support of the oppressive Vietnamese government (so you'll probably have talks about pro-human rights / anti-American foreign policy rather than anti-Republican or anti-Democrat).
This event is a first-ever partnership of the LIGHT Education Initiative, City of Asylum, Artist Protection Fund, Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh, International Free Expression Project, Together We Remember, and the University of Pittsburgh Global Studies Center, financially supported by Together We Remember, the Allegheny County Library Association (ACLA), and the Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh!
