Virtual Gathering: Live COVID-19 report from the Congo and More

TIME: 2 PM ET / 11 AM PT | PLATFORM: Zoom | REGISTER: bit.ly/JWW-Congo-Report

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we cannot physically gather this April for our annual Walk to End Genocide. We can, however, come together online to support survivors of genocide and mass atrocities globally during Genocide Awareness Month.

Even from our homes, we can engage our inner activists!

You can be part of the Virtual Community Gathering on April 26 at 11 a.m. PST. Highlights include COVID-19 updates from our on-the-ground partners and an inspirational conversation about stopping hate now.

For our younger activists, the morning will kick off with an animated reading of “The Sneetches” by Dr. Seuss!

FEATURED SPEAKERS:

  • Amani Tom runs the Congo Peace School and is an activist serving conflict-affected women and children in South Kivu. He believes keeping children in school – and out of militias and mines – is the key to the Democratic Republic of the Congo's recovery from decades of mass atrocities.

  • Spoken-word artist Dr. Omékongo Dibinga is the ultimate UPstander. His life’s mission is to inspire people across the globe to take a stand when they witness an injustice, no matter how small or large. He is a motivational speaker, trilingual poet, TV talk show host, rapper, and professor of cross cultural communication at American University.
