History Repeating: The Forced Labor and Genocide of the Uyghurs

TIME: 1 PM ET/12 PM CDT | PLATFORM: Zoom | REGISTER: bit.ly/2YWujgw

Over the past few years, the Uyghur population’s rights have been violently stripped away, with millions detained in detention camps in China for “re-education.” Join Illinois Holocaust Museum, Campaign for Uyghurs, and Together We Remember, in the fight to raise awareness of the plight of the Uyghurs and stop genocide from taking place in China. We will hear testimony from Zumret Dawut, who was a concentration camp detainee, as well as from Rushan Abbas, an Uyghur American activist whose sister was abducted and remains detained in the camps. Hear about the realities of ultra-nationalism in our modern day, and how this genocide has been largely ignored by the international community. We will also discuss how we can be Upstanders in light of these atrocities.
