The mission of the ASA Social Fund for Hidden Peoples is to give back the "human-ness" to hidden peoples. All of these hidden peoples have been shunned and stigmatized by society. ASA brings awareness to the global world focusing on the challenges and resilience of these people as they strive to regain their human rights and human dignity. In addition, ASA provides financial support through their scholarship fund, micro loan program, and building sustainable development projects in Uganda.
Prior to the LIVE zoom meeting, Dr. Louis Picard and Pauline Greenlick encourage you to watch three of their brief films (linked below), which provide a glimpse into the lives of three Ugandan teenagers who have overcome extreme challenges. After watching each of the films, consider the guiding questions (teachers, this is a great opportunity for advanced written responses!), and/or prepare your own questions for the April 24th event.
1) One Day in the Life of Eddy (2 min) - https://youtu.be/POSZjCM4jF4
Discussion Question #1: “There are millions of people living with disabilities throughout the world. What can be done to help people like Eddy who live in developing countries?”
2) Connie Amongi (6 min) - https://youtu.be/rqc8WsZfods
Discussion Question #2: “What do the lives of those like Connie who have experienced traumatic life and death events and either recovered or not recovered from them tell us about the world we live in?”
3) Ronald (4 minutes) - https://youtu.be/bLStcz9Mstg
Discussion Question #3: “How did Ronald’s family experience with HIV/Aids propel him to action?” ASA Social Fund for Hidden Peoples is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. To learn more, please visit www.asasocialfundforhiddenpeoples.org.
