Trans Day of Visibility 2021: Trans Joy in the Face of Violence

TIME: 5:50 PM EST | PLATFORM: Zoom | REGISTER: bit.ly/twrtdov

Why do we celebrate trans joy in the face of violence and discrimination? With an ever-increasing number of trans people being murdered, it is important to take the time to celebrate transness and see trans accomplishments, icons, history, and most importantly — joy — in order to heal and grow as people and as a community.

Together Youth Action fellows Devon and Rhys will be joined by co-director of Colectiva Transperencias, Victoria Rovira Hernández. This program is being curated by Together We Remember’s Youth Action Network (YAN), a movement of student leaders across the world committed to bridging the gap between education and action to make “never again” a reality, once and for all. YAN applies the lessons of the past to the present to counter division and hate in our schools, communities, and on social media. With the help of Together We Remember and its global coalition of partners, student leaders are realizing their potential as human rights advocates - sharpening skills, growing networks, and designing student-led projects that have local, national, and international impact. The YAN is a program of Together We Remember (TWR), a global grassroots truth and reconciliation organization dedicated to fostering collective memory and inspiring collective action.
